I bricked my 3DS

Hobbies Intermediate Programmer I can make programs, but I still have trouble here and there. Programming Strength So, I woke up yesterday and reached under my pillow for my 3DS(I charge it under there for the night). I accidentally pushed it to the edge where it fell down the little space between the bed and the wall onto the floor. Later that day, I tried fixing it and couldn't find anywhere where the signal connection was damaged/broken. So I decided to just put it back together and see what happens. I couldn't get one little ribbon cable back in(it was almost impossible), so I decided, "Screw this little thing, I'm just gonna try putting it back together already." Big mistake. I tried turning it on, and the light was blue for a few seconds, but immediately turns back off. I'm going to see what I can do to get that ribbon cable back in. If I can, I should be able to "de-brick" my 3DS. So this delays me testing/working on programs for you guys. I'm just gonna frontlight some GBCs and sell them on ebay and wait for them to sell and probably get a New 3DS XL with the money. Posted

Hobbies Intermediate Programmer I can make programs, but I still have trouble here and there. Programming Strength Okay update time; I got some help from my bro, and now It's a little worse... I basically need to replace the entire ribbon cable and socket. If you know of where I can get one, please tell me. EDIT: I forgot to tell you which cable it is. It's the ribbon cable to the right of the cartridge slot. Also it's a 3DS XL. Posted Edited by Guzzler

Nintendo won't repair his console because it's been opened and tampered with (at least, for free), and the second seems unlikely, seeing the NAND data is encrypted with the OTP, which is console unique and stored in the boot ROM, which cannot be written to. However, maybe Nintendo has some other magic to do it.

I can't imagine soldering would work. If all the solder blobs together, there won't be any separate connections. Unless you are a true soldering master black-belt, I don't see how you can pull this off... Unless I'm just not understanding the situation properly.

Yeah... I don't have too much money right now. I have done some pretty darn good soldering jobs with my awful iron. I need to wait to get another one before I can solder it.

Why the speakers? That seems like not a big thing to miss, unless it is important circuit wise or something like that...

Express Yourself Yeah, I had the same problem with my old 3DS. To be honest, yuu shouldn't bother getting a new ribbon cable (I did, it's still busted) and by taking it apart you voided the warrenty. I suggest getting a new 3DS if possible. I made the mistake of not calling nintendo at that point. They can send your nnid right over to the new 3DS so your software is restored. With a quick SD swap everything should be OK. also a good exuse to get a new 3ds KEK Posted Edited by chemicalex

Yeah, the problem is probably a microtear within the sound ribbon. I think that's the main thing that sends data to the top screen or something, idk really. Also, 3D is a very important part of a 3DS. But once you take that ribbon out, there's not much use trying to get any sound ribbon back in. im talking in the sense that this ribbon is orange and not black because if it is black i'm a stupid
