Programming StrengthI didn't, but I want the game, and I was thinking of making an EarthBound inspired game(Undertale looks a lot like EarthBound to me).
EDIT: Look at what is required for the minimum specs.
MINIMUM:
OS: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or 10
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 128MB
Storage: 200 MB available space
It couldn't very well be done in SmileBASIC.

No, that was because it had "hell" in the name
It got put back up with a new name and it's still there.

#7✎ 9ReddfairchildYou can try, but it wouldn't be the same experience. You can't get the same reactions you would normally get for reloading your saved file or the like because the 3DS doesn't have whatever the PC has involving saved files, which is why it cannot be properly ported to consoles. If it's any consolation, I'm working on an interactive novelization version of the game for SB.
ps don't spoil this game for yourself if you haven't completed it. I spoiled almost all of it and I regret it deeply and you probably will too. ; u ;

I'm sorry, that's not true. A file is a file, it doesn't matter if it's on a PC or a console. A "game reset" like in Undertale would just reset certain flags but not other ones. In fact, you could say the experience would be more genuine on a console, as it's harder for people to mess with their save files.
Edit: Toby Fox can't port it to consoles because he wrote the game in GameMaker Studio, which doesn't support consoles. He'd have to reprogram the entire game.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. He can't port it to Nintendo consoles because Gamemaker doesn't support it. It supports PS4, PS3, PSVITA, and XBONE because they have very PC-like architectures and libraries. Nintendo makes their consoles entirely different.

Like Earthbound and Mother 3 similar battle system but different characters, world, and story; but also small nods to the original! That would be a great community project, to come up with a story for [name pending] OverStory.

I suppose, but what's to say we just don't make our own engine! We already have a Bullet Hell simulator all else we would neee is overworld, text boxes and Battle Sprites. Maybe I'm a bit too optimistic but I feel this could be possible with enough work!

I was just explaining why Toby didn't make console versions. If someone wants to recreate the entire game, I'm sure it would be mostly possible (minus some of the final boss effects).

>Copyleft is an actual term that means exactly what you'd expect
Also worth noting that if Smileboom recognizes that something won't be pursued, (such as if you say you got permission or the creator has said fanworks are okay), they'll let it through. That's why all the Touhou stuff doesn't get taken down.

You can't prove that at all; the rules don't say anything about bad words. It more than likely was dropped for copyright reasons, or the server got it or something.
SmileBoom doesn't manually look through all uploads to find rule-breaking content (they have the server do that, but it's only half-effective) so as long as they don't notice you've re-uploaded it you're in the clear. I believe last time there was a Miiverse post about it, which probably caused word to move around a lot and they caught wind. Be careful when doing rule-breaking and you're astronomically less likely to get caught :).

First and foremost - is the combat turn-based? I pretty much hate turn-based combat (and RPGs in general), so that would be a deal breaker for me, even though I've heard great things about the story and characters and that sort of stuff really appeals to me.

It's a pseudo-RPG bullet hell game. The combat is a bullet hell, the overworld is Earthbound. The core game is an ocean of feels... have fun with that part.

Oh, my apologies! It was something I had read about the save file thing while looking through STEAM forums a while ago. Something how consoles couldn't acess the files in the same manner as a PC could.
