What would you think about unobtrusive advertisements?

I'm OK with it.

OK so after some research, Google's estimate of "a few days" is ludicrous. Apparently it'll take 3 weeks, so uh... yeah.

OK, then we won't have ads for a while yet :P

I'm up for whitelisting.

Buh, sometimes Google baffles me. OK so the people in the GOOGLE FORUMS said that it would take like 3 weeks (these are answers given today, not a long time ago). But Google just sent me an email that's all "yeah you're approved already. Your ads should be ready in a few hours". Lol maybe I should listen to Google instead of random people on forums. Anyway, the ads should start showing up in a few hours (maybe). If you see any that are of questionable content, let me know. I'm pretty sure I disabled all adult advertisements, get rich quick schemes, political ads, and any other garbage.

Oh Nose, ads! xD I'll ge a blocker...

Those are some weird ads

Yeah Google doesn't know our market yet, so they're giving the "most popular" ads (which would ofc be ad blockers). Oh no wait, I forgot, it uses the content on the page. Since we're talking about ads and ad blockers in this thread and on the homepage a lot, this is what they show us.

Don't worry, Google figured it out.

haha. The ads. The ads using the content on the pages is a bit funny, a bunch of 'smile' things and 'adblock' things. These ads are nice. I think I'll invite them for dinner.

Lol they'll figure it out one day, don't worry. Apparently they cycle through the ads to find the subjects that are the most popular here, but they start with the content on the page.

Yeah. I'm now looking at a bunch of pages to see what the ads were. Unfortunately, Stockpro's page did not bring up any financial advisors or similar results.

Despite what Google says, I have a sneaking suspicion that the advertisements aren't going to make any more than 1 dollar per month (in which case I'll just disable them). Anyway, you'll probably only have to deal with them for a month before I disable them. Thanks.

I just got an ad for adblock. That's not how ads work.

It's getting smarter I think?

Heheh yeah I thought the same :-) I haven't checked (am on phone) but it could be a crippled or dodgy fork of adblock? Otherwise it's a bit self-defeating

Actually, the link ads at the top are great! They're actually pretty funny, only ads I've ever liked before :P The one at the bottom is advertising urgent care though, so I don't really get why the top is so good. EDIT: Reloaded and now it's social security for older people. ...? Yeah the top is still great though... EDIT 2: On top of home page, its advertising ROM downloads. I think that that's kind of maybe illegal isn't it? EDIT 3: Please keep the top ads they're hilarious.... XD 'Smile Games'

For me the bottom ad is for a "mobile bank account", but then I have recently been searching and comparing bank accounts... At the least the top ads in my favourite forum -programming questions - are relevant :-)

Nah, just depends on the page.

Hum, I set AdBlock Plus to "Disable on smilebasicsource.com" but there's nothing here... Are there any better content-blocking extensions for Firefox? They also don't work on O3DS browser (what a surprise.) It tries and gives up, like everything else it does.

Just because you only make $1 the first month doesn't mean you won't make more. It doesn't hurt anyone to leave them on considering the positive response you've been getting, and it's practically a free dollar anyway. And advertising helps those sites we're linked to (if we go there, of course.) Do sites on the AdSense network get advertised on AdSense? Could we be advertised somewhere else through AdSense? I don't know how this works lol. There's LOTS of ad programs though. If this doesn't work you could try others.
