Producing a video about the SB series, and recreating video of PTC

Root / General / [.]

AveryCreated:
I want to make a video discussing The SB-PTC series from SB2 to SB4. It would be useful to have direct video SB2, 3 and 4 SB4 is covered by the switch's built-in video capture function. SB3 is a little more difficult but I still have it covered. I've hacked my 3DS and dumped my own SB3 ROM so I can run it in an emulator on PC. SB2/PTC2/MKii though, I have a copy of it on my hacked 3DS, but I actually don't know how to get it to run in an emulator. I don't intend to obtain a ROM from someone else illegally. Is it possible to take my ROM and run it on an Emulator on PC? That would be the best solution. Otherwise, I do have another idea so crazy, it just might work. pointing a camera at your 3DS? No, that video would make me cringe so hard, I would implode. I think It would be feasible for me to add subroutines into some programs which save just the data needed to reproduce video of the application later. I already have a small bit of experience with getting screenshots out of SB2. [1] [2] This second idea, especially when considering video sounds kinda crazy but it honestly sounds fun. I think I'll pursue that, but if the emulator is possible, I'd love to know. After all that, I'm open to suggestions about what programs to show off or any detail about the series that you'd like to see covered. P.S.: Now that I opened up SmileBASIC on my 3DS, perhaps if I load it in native resolution, get the exposure and framing right, it may actually look quite good.

Supposedly, No$GBA supports DSi titles.

The challenge now is decrypting the app. Isn't it like some stupid double-encryption? 3DS-level and DSi-level? funnn. I don't know how to decrypt it.

You can extract .nds ROMs from installed titles using GodMode9. (I've already done it in the past)

well, I'm dummy and need a little help, or a link to a page which explains it properly. I'm getting near-miss search results.

I'm making some progress. I have a file which No$GBA recognizes is an NDS ROM, but says is still encrypted. "Encrypted Cartridge, requires files BiosNds7.rom and BiosNds9.rom"

You can find BiosNds7.rom and BiosNds9.rom here. Even when you have these files, not all DSi games work on No$GBA, and are thus, impossible to emulate. I'm not sure if Petit Computer works or not.

so i got the roms and all i got to show is this cool screenshot

Well, I got the ROMS it asked for. It was the NDS BIOS. Started it up. It shows the title, but it won't play. Not surprised that DSiWare won't run on a DS emulator alone. I'm trying to find a way to get t his emulator to work in DSi mode, if it even has one.

DSi emulation is disabled by default as it can cause issues with regular DS games. Here's how to activate it: Step 1:Hit options Step 2:Hit emulation setup Step 3:Switch the NDS Mode/Colors option to "DSi (retail/16MB)" Reset/Startup Entrypoint must also be set to "Start Cartridge directly" or else the emulator will crash.

I've just found that out and tried it but it still doesn't work. I'm starting to think it simply isn't compatible and I'm SOL, unless somebody else (you?) has had success already.

The emulator does work with DSi games but some of them refuse to boot. It seems PTC is one of those games. and besides, even if it did work, it seems the emulator doesn't work with touch input meaning you can't use the keyboard.

I GOT IT

I just timed it. It took 21 seconds for the logos to appear. You gotta be patient and not trigger-happy with the reset button.

FSAE only takes like 5-10 seconds

Hey uhhh problem. No inputs are working. No touch, no buttons. The menu is being emulated, it's animated and playing music. just a control issue
