I don't think anyone was very busy making video games during WWII, lol. Even some of the VERY first video games had some complexity to them, like rudimentary collision and physics.
Might I suggest a ball bouncing program? It touches on a lot of things, like collision and physics, among other things.

Ya know, if you are going to call me out, you can say my name. I'm not Voldemort or anything.
You attempt looks pretty nice, reminiscent of Minecraft. Nice use of Sim.3D. You are going to run into problems trying to make a large world with any detail.
Recognize this picture? It is me making a Menger Sponge in Sim.3D. Take a look at the fps counter, and consider that I ran out of memory if I tried just one more level of recursion.
Maybe just maybe I know what I am talking about. Goto is bad, interpreted languages on handheld devices have limits. None of that should be controversial but now I am Voldemort all of the sudden.
Anyway, I like the idea of old school game reimplementation, I do it myself. Maybe the original poster would like to try their hand at "Hunt the Wupus" https://www.atariarchives.org/bcc1/showpage.php?page=247. I did that on SmileBasic Switch over yesterday's holiday.

If something is static (like the menger sponge), could't we break it down? There is an algorithm for that somewhere I think, but I forgot where I found it.

#47✎ 212seggiepantsThere may have been others, but I think the timeline of events paints a pretty convincing cause and effect. I don't like people starting projects just out of spite for me. It is insulting, even if it isn't just me the spite is directed at.
The menger sponge could be simplified, it is true, but it wasn't my point. The point is you have a 9x9x9 cube made of cubes. Of those 729 cubes, about 20% or more are excluded due to the sponge effect. Shouldn't my sponge be far less geometry to render than the smallest of minecraft worlds? It was largely a visual aid to show what I meant.

You claimed that "you can't make a reasonable version of Minecraft on the 3DS using SmileBasic" and Sam showed that it is possible (though I guess it depends on what you consider to be "reasonable")
EDIT: and this has basically nothing to do with the original topic of this thread
You were correct to say that trying to create a minecraft clone is a bad idea for a beginner, but saying that it's completely impossible is just an invitation for someone to prove you wrong.

Yes plus tax because it differs depending on where you are.
The point is simply that SmileBasic doesn't have the horsepower to make a Minecraft clone. You can prove it with Math. Since the context seems to have faded, here is a refresher.
Post #01 - Original poster wants help printing numbers in a loop.
Post #06 - Original Poster attempting to make Minecraft.
Post #07 - The Admin Formerly Known as Lumage (TAFKAL) says that's quite the leap isn't it?
Post #36 - Original Poster reiterates intention to make Minecraft on SmileBasic on original flavor 3DS
Post #40 - Me saying SmileBasic can't it is too weak
Post #43 - Sam throws shade at me
As you can see the minecraft theme has been going on since the start. Instead of helping the original poster set reasonable expectations instead he is being led by around by phantom carrots of possibilities.
I didn't want to have to be this blunt. The program is clearly labeled proof of concept and I haven't downloaded it or tried it out. But, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Minecraft on "New" 3DS
Sam's proof of concept:
You will notice that with about two dozen cubes on screen frame rate has dropped to about 30 fps. It may well be the best possible minecraft clone you can make on SmileBasic. Unfortunately it does more to prove my point than disprove it.
If you think the thread has gone off rails, feel free to close it. I can tell I am getting frustrated when I start including lots of pictures in my replies.
