I did and I'm really having fun with it! I enjoy a lot of games they put, and it has online features that lets you download any games [I'm guessing it's in the Featured or Popular style?] There is sooo many good games, even the Christmas Reindeer from 3DS! My favorite is The Legend of Kako because of how "official" the game looks to me! Edit: Actually, The Legend of Kako is a mini episode. lol AND the graphics were made using the famous PIC something! (Sorry, I'm busy having too much fun with this. I'm not facially happy, but I'm excited in the heart!)

i'm planning on doing it

There's more going on with Legend of Kako than you might think. After the credits, it tells you to press down on the D-pad on the title screen for a secret.
after you reach the second credits...After you do that mode and see the other credits, it tells you to press up on the D-pad at the title screen.

Is there any way to buy it without going through Play-Asia? I heard their support is garbage and their social media presence is... unprofessional. I've looked at Amazon, but they have a crazy markup. Edit: Used this seller. They take a second, but it's better than waiting 30 days.

Getting a Japanese eShop card is the easiest way to do it. The other main way would be trying to get a Japanese PayPal account and buying it that way.

I bought it! Don't have as much free time as I used to, but that won't stop me from making something stupid for this. :P I used Play Asia to get a 3,000 yen eShop card and that worked perfectly. Still figuring out how to navigate through the menus, but I've got most of it down I think. Definitely glad to be able to download it now with Japanese everywhere rather than having to wait who knows how long for the English release.

Another thread said it may be a year before an English release. I was expecting something like three months. Maybe I need to visit Play Asia too. So, if I got the Japanese version, can I buy the American version when it comes out too, and would I get two upload quotas if I did that? Unrelated, but I called it on the last delay, Fuze Basic was delayed again. Mid July now if I remember correctly. Sorry one last question, is Nintendo Switch Online required for upload/download of code?

THANKFULLY no, it doesn't required to download [hopefully and upload? I never upload before on Switch]. You can browse there anytime! There's so many good quality games and apps I enjoyed: RedBox, SmileWars by Konimiru [I would love to play all his/her games!], ICBM, Pics Limited for Switch, and Cyburst! Along with the funny Llama game where you gotta eat all the red apples before the penalty box gets full! One of my favorite is where you have to "REC" the TV episode about the peach-loving girl! I can't pass through it yet...

Yes. Your American and Japanese accounts would have separate save data and upload quotas. One thing I am hoping for is for SB4 to be multi-language depending on system settings, since there's a number of games like that on Switch. In that case, you wouldn't need to buy it a second time.

Nintendo Switch Online isn't necessary at all.

so is the 3DS smilesbasic coming to an end? i haven't even bought a switch yet, i'm not ready lmao

How many games are there in total? (Including sample games)

It’s been at an end for a while lol When’s the last time you saw an update

What, like... count every single game that's ever been uploaded so far? A lot? Like, 50 or so? More get added every day.

Oh, I thought the games were included offline, not downloaded from a list.

There are 5 simple demo programs [text, calc, keyboard, guessing, biorythm], and 3 games. There's the dungeon game that's been in every version, there's a shooter demo thing, and the TALK game.

So, I took the plunge, it may not have been smart, but I did it. One question I have, is there a Solid Gunner? They show it as an icon in all of the forced ui/button explanations, but I can't find it in the shop. I found Givers P3D, but not Solid Gunner. Now I need to hook this thing up to a keyboard and see what I can get going. P.S. Don't expect google translate to be too much help.

I'm surprised by how little there is in the way of tutorials for this thing either in Japanese or English. The built in beginner's guide seems quite shallow, to say the least. I have a question for those with experience making games using this . Do you have to program collision detection and movement mechanics/gravity etc from scratch like with something like Pico 8, or does this have some built in presets/libraries you can use? Do you have to figure out and code up the math yourself or is there an option of just calling/tweaking preprepared functions? I guess I'm still not sure how barebones/hand holdey this is as a game creation tool..

I was wondering about Solid Gunner too, but it doesn't seem to be there.

Solid Gunner is evidently not available yet. They clearly planned for it to be, but the UI demos are just screenshots.

Heck, if you go into the "#GUIDE" project (not visible in menus) and look at the GRPs, you'll see that they literally are just screenshots. All of the tutorials - the academy section and the first boot info - are stored in the "#GUIDE" project. You can even load your own files.

Wait... Is #GUIDE writable? I thought the system folders were read only, unless this is a different trick.
