SB on the switch just sounds terrible Typing code with a keyboard on a capacitative touchscreen? haha no.
Doesn't the switch support usb keyboards?
Oh, I'm not sure. If it does that would be nice.
I'm not exactly sure where this belongs, but... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LcnKRtUfqY This looks promising for SmileBASIC in the future

smilebasic hardware 3 is coming and it's switch confirmed? or is the pascom mini hardware 3?

Neither. HARDWARE 3 is Wii U. Switch would probably be HARDWARE 4.

What do you think sb is now. You still type on a screen.

The Switch supports USB keybs though

Doesn't the switch have a micro USB port or something? I've never even seen a micro USB keyboard.

The base has USB ports. Also, haven't you ever heard of OTG adapters?

I believe the Switch itself uses Type C, though I'm sure you can find an adapter anyway.

Hmm, USB-type C to female USB... That might actually be pretty hard to find.

Yes, I looked everywhere in my house and in nearby stores. Of course you can buy it online, you can buy anything online...

Neither. HARDWARE 3 is Wii U. Switch would probably be HARDWARE 4.
Sorry about replying late but Wii U is actually HARDWARE 2

Woops, sorry! I forgot counting in programming starts at 0 when writing that. After some searching, I couldn't find anything stating that the Pasocom Mini even HAS a return number for HARDWARE. Someone who owns a Pasocom Mini will have to answer that... My guess is no.

Ooh nice! I wonder if it will be like the WiiU version (or if it's exactly that but repurposed...).

プチコン4 SmileBASIC - some kind of launcher UI - editor window splitting - USB keyboard - vertical screen mode (?)

Here's a better look at the main menu until we have proper scans of the article:

I spot * TOPMENU text * the petitdeveloper shmup example icon
Spoiler
* the petitdeveloper sokoban/push puzzle example icon
Spoiler
* generic paint tool icon that feels familiar * Smileboom logo icon * Kawa no Kuma-san icon
Spoiler
* Solid Gunner icon
Spoilerit really didn't matter and the whole post was only meaningful for a day anyway but gosh fine
* Calculator icon right-hand side: * options * blue... not sure. could be a 'folder' or a 'photo' on there "Create New [project]" * pushpuzzle appears to be 'pinned' * guessing but probably - upload projects to cloud - download project - write programs Edit: It's interesting, of course, but they're obviously just placeholders. Also: empty slots for more icons, what looks like a 'next page' type button, and a cursor. It could simply be a mistake from making the mockup, but... you'd think using the joycons wouldn't include the appearance of a cursor. One of the photos from the famitsu page also showed a keyboard and a mouse being used in their (probably fake) Switch setup, which I thought was interesting.

No, I'm sure any program that doesn't have an icon (like 3DS games, if compatible) would probably get some placeholder icon, like the first letter of the program name or something. Otherwise, you'd have to make an icon for every single throwaway program you make. Still, it's too early to say anything about compatibility. The three vertical screenshots are of the editor, what looks like a file browser (with a GRP file shown at the top), and the top menu in a vertical orientation. It may have a 3DS mode, but I don't think that's what we're looking at in these screenshots. That said, it's worth noting that it's called Petitcom 4 this time, whereas the 3DS and Wii U versions were Petitcom 3 and Petitcom BIG. The jump between Petitcom 2 on the DSi ("Petit Computer" in the West) and Petitcom 3 was a big one, changing a ton of things and losing compatibility. It might not be the case this time, since Petitcom 2 was also a very limited language in comparison, but Kobayashi has tweeted before wondering whether he'd want to maintain compatibility or not, since the Switch has only one screen, and a capacitive touch screen that can't use normal styluses.

It would be pretty cool if this version of sb supported nested folders. I'm guessing how the switch would support 3ds mode involves using a tv/monitor as the top screen while the switch itself is the touchscreen.
