Had PTC for the DSi/3DS on DSiWare? Played Village? Want to play it again, but don't want to boot PTC for whatever reason? Well, here's your answer! (well, sort of.) Village for SmileBASIC! You can chop trees, catch a weird fish, talk to a sign, and more!

Instructions:

You can move with the D-Pad. To turn around without moving, use the circle pad. To run, hold B. Pressing A makes you interact with the object you're facing, or use the held item. If you want to pick something up, press Y. To manage the inventory, press X. While in the inventory, you can move the cursor with the D-Pad. To equip the selected item, press A. To un-equip it, select the same item again and press A. Pressing Y allows you to organize your inventory. First select the item to move, and then the item to be swapped. Pressing X or B exits the inventory. If you want to speed up the dialogue, hold B or A. Debugging related controls: Pressing L shows a test dialogue.

Changelog

Demo 1

  • A 72x42 map. (It is actually 84x42, though.)
  • Walking around.
  • Fishing (work-in-progress)
  • Other stuff

Future plans

  • Better fishing
  • "bitwise autotile" (when I figure out how to do it.)
  • Better graphics
  • Other stuff.

Notes:

This game is HUGELY work-in-progress. You should come back at a later point for the cool stuff. Also, random, where's the BBCode buttons for this field?

this isnt anywhere close to the real village sb. i mean using homebrew to port then convert manually to sb commands. i am just having trouble with files right now but i think i have it figured out

Why bother porting? Yes, while it is not Village PTC, this is more of a spritual successor to it.

This one isn't finished. Of course it isn't as good.

This was by far my favorite game on PTC, I'm exited to see this on SB.

Umm.... no. Open source doesn't mean you can steal

No... You still need to get permission from the original developer.

You don't have to. It just makes you look like a jerk if you don't

I am going to politely to ask that you do not incorporate Village SB to your OS.

Plus, how does a game like this fit into an OS? An OS is supposed to be more 'utility,' isn't it?

I wasn't aware this was submitted in the Resources category. Maybe there's supposed to be a box that shows whether or not the user would be okay with further submissions to the site including their content but I don't see a spot where that would fit.
