A new, smaller, cheaper, handheld-only Nintendo Switch has been announced Coming Sept. 20th of This Year https://youtu.be/59yuBFRSZdg Announcement Video As I've been hoping ever since I saw a rumor on WSJ, Nintendo has finally announced their next device, the Nintendo Switch Lite. Since it's only $199 compared to the Switch's $299 price, this should open up the availability to a switch for quite a few people here, which I'm particularly interested in. (If I'm being honest, I wouldn't be this excited if I didn't just win a bet I made awhile back). Measurements/Comparisons Nintendo Switch: [Dimensions] 4” high, 9.4” long, .55” deep (with Joy-Con attached) [Weight] Approximately .88 lbs (with controllers attached) [Screen] 6.2" [Battery Life] Approximately 2.5 - 6.5 hours (The battery life will depend on the games you play.) [Price] $299.99 Nintendo Switch Lite: [Dimensions] 3.6” high, 8.2” long, .55” deep [Weight] Approximately .61 lbs [Screen] 5.5" [Battery Life] Approximately 3 – 7 hours (The battery life will depend on the games you play.) [Price] $199.99 New Features/Changes to the Switch Lite
  • $100 cheaper than original Switch, being $199
  • It's solely handheld, meaning it can't connect to a TV
  • The Joy-con don't come off, and HD Rumble and IR motion tracking has been removed because of that
  • IT HAS BLUETOOTH NOW
  • Built-in Gyro sensors to make up for no IR tracking
  • You can still connect Joy-con and other wireless controllers to the device externally
  • Comes in Yellow, Grey, and Turquoise
  • Only plays games compatible with handheld mode (obviously)
Here's where I got most of my info There will also be a Pokemon Sword and Shield themed version coming Nov. 8th, one week before the games' release. The device will feature the new legendary Pokemon Zacian and Zamazenta.

It seems, that is one more (in)official dying message for the 3DS-family.

Hmm well I this looks like it's a good option but 199$ still is a LOT of money, and if you would like to play a game with motion controls or 1 switch multiplayer it would still just cost as much as a normal one BC. A joycon is like 50$ L/R.

cool I think I'd rather have a normal switch just for the TV and to play anti-handheld compatible games.

  • IT HAS BLUETOOTH NOW
  • Didn't the original switch have bluetooth?

this is just a switch but with all of its important features removed

You could probably mod this to give some of the "REMOVED" features back (Mod like in Hardware modifications)

    good luck

I'll still get the original switch... Once i earn the money for it kek

I prefer my switch. I recommend it. I can't give up the tv. I just need botw...

botw can be played in handheld mode, and is therefore compatible with the switch lite. What I would do if I made the switch lite is make the screen smaller and do nothing else.

I know it's capatable I just still don't have it

Can you use the switch lite in TV mode with a pre-owned switch dock?

    Hm idk

I'll probably get it for X-mas with BOTW or something

They specifically say that's not the case in the video. Edit:specifically at 4:11.
